Scottish house builder, Walker Group, has pledged its support to Harmeny’s Learning for Life Appeal.
Harmeny Education Trust in Balerno is delighted to announce that the Livingston-based Walker Group has pledged its support for the school’s £2.4m Appeal, launched this spring.
Walker Group, which builds residential homes right across central Scotland, has said it will support Harmeny over the next three years. The company has pledged £200 for every house sale, and hopes to raise a minimum of £75,000.
Harmeny’s Learning for Life appeal will drive forward the school’s vision of extending its support to young people over the age of 14 and within the wider community. The funds raised will allow the school to upgrade two of its residential cottages and build a brand new outdoor centre / learning hub as a base for specialist outdoor, art, design and technology opportunities.
Bruce Walker, Managing Director of Walker Group, has been getting to know Harmeny over the past few months, visiting the school and lending his expertise to the fundraising efforts. He says he has been impressed by Harmeny’s specialist care and support, seeing how “the children are slowly rebuilt, learning how to deal with their emotions and behaviours, and gradually growing in confidence. The work the staff do is remarkable. We are really looking forward to supporting the appeal and its vision of helping children to embrace learning and education.”
Harmeny Chief Executive Neil Squires adds: “It’s tremendous that the team at Walker Group want to make a difference to the lives of some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children, and are creatively thinking of way to raise funds for our appeal. We’re so grateful for their involvement and are excited about our future partnership.”
