Harmeny has a number of ongoing volunteering opportunities, including:
Befriending / Mentoring
This programme is overseen by one of our Assistant Residential Managers, who coordinates recruitment, induction and ongoing training and support. Befrienders are ‘matched’ with a child placed at Harmeny and spend time building positive relationships, accompanying the child on regular trips, encouraging the development and pursuit of interests or hobbies and helping build social and independence skills.
From time to time, we are able to offer volunteering opportunities, supporting education staff with children’s learning – both within and outside the classroom. If you have a skill you would like to offer – such as music, art, gardening or technology – we would love to hear from you. If you would like some experience developing your skills in this area and are willing to make a minimum six-month commitment, we would be happy to speak to you further.
Friends of Harmeny
We have a group of volunteers called the ‘Friends of Harmeny’, who support the work of the school through promotional and fundraising activities. For further details, click on the ‘Friends of Harmeny’ link on the left.
We have a community investment volunteering programme, which allows individuals and groups of staff from corporate organisations to volunteer their time and effort, working alongside staff and children, on outdoor and environmental projects within our estate. We also have regular volunteering opportunities within our outdoor service, particularly within our adventurous, environmental, gardening or bike maintenance programmes.
