The Harmeny Learning for Life Appeal will raise much-needed funding, to offer greater support to our children, to develop our care and education facilities, and enable us to help more young people across Scotland.
Building the Future Together
We have over 60 years’ experience of working with vulnerable children and we want to do more to meet the growing need.
We need to raise £2.4million to create much needed space and increased opportunities. This will change the lives of young people, both at Harmeny and from our local community.
The Learning for Life Appeal will provide:
Space to relax – We have already extended two of our residential cottages via new living and kitchen accommodation. Plus provide better sleepover accommodation for our staff.
Space to learn and thrive – We will create a new multi-purpose Learning Hub to house our two secondary classrooms. We will also expand our outdoors, woodwork and art & design facilities. This building is key to unlocking our children’s potential. It will help build their self-confidence and develop their relationships with themselves, each other and the world around them.
Increased opportunities – The new Learning Hub will also provide the facilities we need to develop a Secondary skills-based curriculum to work with a further 60 young people at risk of exclusion from secondary schools in South West Edinburgh and allowing us to extend the age range of children we can work with.
The Learning for Life Appeal is more than just bricks and mortar, it’s about providing some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children and young people with the tools and opportunities they need to develop skills for the future.
